Quick answer: Clark now works as a direct Luzon gateway to Siargao on selected days. If a direct CRK → IAO flight fits your dates, it removes the need for an air connection. If it does not, Cebu is the strongest practical backup hub: Cebu Pacific’s current Cebu guide lists Cebu–Siargao at four flights daily, giving far more schedule redundancy than a once- or several-times-weekly route.
Clark to Siargao: direct when it fits, Cebu when you need flexibility
| Route | Frequency signal | Best for | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| CRK → IAO direct | Cebu Pacific’s Clark guide lists 6x weekly; CRK also lists direct services in its current schedule | Central Luzon and Manila-area travelers who can match the operating day | Less frequency flexibility than Cebu |
| CEB → IAO | Cebu Pacific’s Cebu guide lists 4x daily | Travelers already in Cebu or needing more backup options | Requires getting to Cebu first |
| Metro Manila → Clark → IAO | Road transfer + direct flight | When direct CRK pricing/timing beats a Cebu air connection | Road traffic and fixed bus schedules |
Official 2026 guidance moved Cebgo/AirSWIFT turboprop operations out of NAIA and into Clark, including Siargao. Current Clark sources show direct Siargao service, but airline mix and days can change. Verify your exact travel date before building a nonrefundable itinerary around a specific frequency. Cebu Pacific transfer advisory · CRK flights.
Why the Cebu backup matters
A direct Clark flight is the simplest route when it operates on your date. But Siargao is a weather-sensitive island airport, and a high-frequency backup hub matters when flights move or sell out. Cebu Pacific’s current Mactan-Cebu guide lists Cebu–Siargao at four flights daily, making Cebu the more flexible connection point when the direct Clark schedule does not line up. This does not mean you should automatically connect through Cebu. It means you should compare the whole itinerary: direct Clark fare + road access versus Manila/Cebu airfare + connection time + baggage handling.
Realistic total time: the flight is only one layer
| Stage | Planning approach | Where trips go wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Metro Manila / NAIA → Clark | Use a large ground-transfer buffer | Assuming road traffic behaves like an airport connection |
| CRK → IAO | Direct on operating days | Booking around an old timetable or wrong airline label |
| IAO → General Luna | Shared van, tricycle or prearranged transfer | Not budgeting time for the cross-island ride after landing |
Clark Airport currently posts Genesis P2P fares of ₱450 NAIA–CRK and ₱310 Trinoma–CRK. Its bus schedule page carries dated timetable snapshots, so confirm the live departure rather than treating an old screenshot as guaranteed. CRK transport guide.
After landing: Siargao Airport is not General Luna
Sayak Airport is in Del Carmen, while many first-time visitors stay around General Luna. Your arrival plan therefore needs one more leg after the flight. Our Siargao Airport to General Luna guide compares the usual shared van, tricycle and private-transfer choices and explains what changes with luggage, rain and arrival time.
If you land near the end of the day, prearranging the transfer is more valuable than squeezing an extra attraction into arrival day. Save the hotel name, pin and driver/pickup instructions offline before leaving Clark.
Cost comparison: direct is not automatically cheapest
Flight prices move too much to publish one reliable fare range. On your dates, compare:
- transport to Clark;
- the all-in direct airfare, including bags and add-ons;
- airport-to-General-Luna transfer;
- the cost of any overnight stop created by a connection;
- and the value of a full destination day saved.
A Cebu connection may show a lower base fare but cost more once the extra sector, baggage rules and connection time are included. Conversely, a high direct fare can make Cebu the better value. The correct answer is date-specific.
Is Siargao a practical weekend trip from Clark?
A direct flight makes a short Siargao trip possible, but 3D2N is still compressed. Weather and island transfers can reduce usable time quickly. For most travelers, 4D3N gives a much better balance: one arrival/settling day, two useful island days, then departure.

Common mistakes
- Assuming NAIA still has the same turboprop pattern as before 2026. The official transfer advisory moved affected flights to Clark.
- Booking the Clark flight before solving the Manila-to-Clark leg. Ground transport can be the fragile part of the itinerary.
- Ignoring Cebu as a backup. Its much higher Siargao frequency can rescue dates that do not fit Clark.
- Treating IAO as if it were in General Luna. You still need an island transfer after landing.
- Buying separate tickets with a tight connection. Unprotected flights need extra margin.
